Character History: Seth started life rough and that was how he learned to live. His father was an abusive alcoholic who didn’t believe in boundaries or kindness when it came to his sons. Pushing Seth in things such as dismantling and reassembling weapons even when he was youthful enough his hands barely wrapped around the grip, he constantly reminded Seth that his mother left because of him, taking one look at the boys and leaving. Despite all of the abuse, Seth felt a certain loyalty to his father than showed the night the house went up in flames and he tried to stay back to rescue his father. With Richie’s insistence, the boys made it out, their father didn’t.

That was only the beginning for the Gecko brothers. A hard beginning led to a life of crime where scores were planned and plotted, and what belonged to others could easily enough belong to them. By the time Seth screwed things up by not working with his brother, they had a crew of their own and had pulled off at least thirty-five jobs together. Without Richie’s smarts and logic, the job Seth pulled on his own went south, and he ended up doing five years in prison where he spent most of his time playing dominoes… and getting into fights.

Richie’s smarts did get Seth out of prison though, but when visions and oddities that had Seth believing that Richie was losing his mind got in the way, the brothers end up on the run from a bank robbery gone bad with millions in bearer bonds and a hostage bound in the trunk, and bodies in their wake including several law enforcement officers.

Desperate to get the bonds across the border into Mexico and handed off to their contact, the brothers take a family in an RV hostage and use them as cover to get into Mexico and to the Titty Twister bar. A salt of the earth kind of sex and alcohol den, it was also home to an ancient race of snake like vampires called the Culebra who use the bar as a method of killing humans and gathering victims and blood. Some of the Culebra also were seeking the “elders” of their community which was what led to the job Seth and Richie screwed up for the bearer bonds.

The Gecko brothers manage to escape the bar, but not entirely as they were. Richie is turned by Santanico, the woman whose visions he’s been seeing, so that he can help free her from those that have held her captive since she was sacrificed centuries before.

During the test that Richie must undergo to free Santanico, Seth learns that even his abusive childhood was not all it seemed. The fire that killed his father was not started by his father’s cigarette but by Richie setting the fire to save the brothers from their father’s abuse.

The truth about their father, Richie’s changed nature, and years of resentment on both sides sends the brothers into a fight which ends with them separating for the first time by choice and not imprisonment. Richie leaving with Santanico and Seth, as he storms off, finds Kate (the girl they held hostage in the RV) waiting by his car, asking if he wants company. They drive off together.

Without his brother’s logic, reasoning, and insane love for Horchata and knife throwing in his life, Seth becomes more and more reckless. His jobs are done poorly resulting in bags of bounced checks and risks he shouldn’t take. Seth resists in Kate trying to help him, to become his partner as Richie had been, and yet he’s willing to let her help him with his drug addiction where he had taken to riding out his pain through heroin.

He does let Kate in on the business eventually, after she comes up with a good job. One that nearly went pear shaped on them, and ends with a fight over Kate’s brother who had been turned as Richie had. The fight ends with her demanding Seth let her out of the car in the middle of nowhere. After doing so, he returns, giving her most of the cash from the job and walking off, leaving her with the car as well. Not that he goes far, ending up back at the hotel and shooting up again. It leads to visions of Kate returning and Seth waking to being berated by the girl they used in the process of their job.

Demanding Seth help her get her money back, for which he’ll have to be clean, Sonja binds him to a chair and let’s him wait out the junk in his system. Sadly it isn’t just Sonja out for Seth who has run ins with an enforcer sent to bring Santanico back to her captors, as well as the Culebra who brought Seth in on the bearer bond job.

On the run and trying to get Sonja’s her money, and pretending that Seth doesn’t notice that everything is going to hell in a handbasket without his brother, he finds his own jobs cross path with another, and Seth finds out that said brother was going after the cartel and decides to seek Richie out again, which involves shooting out the tires on several cards to ensure his brother rides with him.

Working with his brother again, Seth finds himself caught between wanting back the partnership they’d always had, and still adjusting to working with his brother as he is in those early days as a Culebra. Not to mention Richie seemingly being under Santanico’s influence, still acting odd compared to the brother Seth was used to before he went to prison.

Despite the fights and new difference, the brothers insist on following old family advice and sitting down to dinner to work things out and make plans for the job. The dinner though involves the brothers, Santanico and the human, Sonja. Santanico is instantly on the defensive, irritating Seth as she often does and driving Sonja to the bar. Santanico follows shortly thereafter leaving Seth and Richie at the table. Despite the aggressive, nearly violent way they attack their meal, both shows signs of how much they miss the other in what they do for one another. Even ending the meal with a near compliment from Seth. Which is fine and dandy until they find Santanico choking Sonja, and Seth pulls her away and they storm out.

CRAU: Entranceway AU, returning with his memories

Abilities/Special Powers:
Marksman: Seth is a strong marksman, skilled with a myriad of weapons from single fire to automatic weapons.
Endurance: Able to take a beating that would take down most men. Not one to give up easily.
Hand to Hand: Skilled in street style fighting, grappling and hand to hand.

Third-Person Sample:
It had been a whirlwind from arrest to sentencing and Seth was betting that was all about connections and crooked, well, everyone. Which explained having the proverbial book thrown at him, hard, and aimed for his temple is the time he was facing was any indication. Ten years with possibility of parole in six years. It was like the judge was in someone’s back pocket or something. Or something was about it.

Yet Seth walked out of processing and into the cell like he was at the fucking Ritz Carlton and a VIP guest at that. He didn’t give a shit, right? Least that was what he wanted them to think as he was strolled down the promenade, eyes straight ahead despite the sounds and jeers around him.

Some of the inmates he knew. Some knew him. Yeah, some knew him and Richie way too well. It was hard to dress like they did, show off like they did, and not get a reputation. It was also hard to be the Gecko Brothers and not leave people in your dust, broken or otherwise.

Which maybe explained why the first day in the yard, while he was definitely not alone, Seth realized someone was watching him. Not like checking out the new meat, but sitting a few tables away, turned with his back to the edge of the table, arms folded and glaring at Seth like his eyes had fucking heat seeking lasers shooting from them.

At first not even looking up from the game of dominoes before him, considering his plays with the careful consideration of a million dollar game Texas Hold ‘Em. Seth was aware though as he laid down his next tile that Mr Squinty Eyed Glare had moved a bench closer, still giving Seth that look. Seth was aware, but he didn’t look up. It was as if, for all the world, the only thing that existed in his world was that display of white and black tiles laid out neatly in geometric lines before him.

Even when his admirer moved again.

It hadn’t taken long for others in the yard to notice, slowly gathering in around the table. Not too tight, a loose ring that wouldn’t alert the guards, but the tension was tight and everyone was waiting for it.

Seth didn’t look up.

Laying another tile, his last, head raising only enough to look at the man playing across from him.

“Add up the points, will ya’?”

Catching the shaky nod he got, Seth gave a smile as he stood. Then he threw the hardest punch he could for the jaw of Mr Squinty Eyes, only then looking at him even as the cheer went up among the other inmates.

First-Person Sample:

[When the device first comes on, it shows not a person but an array of bits and pieces of who knows what strewn all over a table. Slowly the device pans, obviously for dramatic effect, to bring into view the face of one Seth Gecko.]

Do you see this? I mean, not that I’m not grateful for magic closets that steal shit from who knows where and drops them at your feet, but is there not some kind of fucking adjustment on this shit?

Let’s see. I’ve got what looks like a Nerf gun. [Said as he lifts it up, dropping it with a clatter.] No foam bullets so that’s real helpful. I’m not even sure what the fuck this is but I’m pretty sure it involves Duck Dodgers and Marvin the Martian.

[The small metal piece he held up definitely had the look of a vintage 1920s style ray gun.]

Also, a warning that asking for liquids could result in wearing would have been nice. No whorewhatever in Wonderland, I guess. That said, the zoot suit? Fits pretty nice. I look like a goddamn mobster and not wearing the hat, but least it fits right.
